Overview
The volunteer computing server is run by
Travis Desell
in UND's
Computer Science Department
and is hosted by UND's
Computational Research Center
and
Information Technology Systems and Services
. This server is dedicated to supporting multiple research and educational projects at the Univeristy of North Dakota and in the state of North Dakota in general.
Projects
UND's volunteer computing server is currently running the following projects:
DNA@Home
- A collaborative project with Profs.
Malik Magdon-Ismail

Lee Newberg
, and
Boleslaw Szymanski
at
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
being used to find protein binding sites in DNA sequences.
Wildlife@Home
- A collaborative project with
Prof. Susan Ellis-Felege
in UND's
Department of Biology
being used to analyze video of sharp-tailed grouse.
SubsetSum@Home
- A collaborative project with
Prof. Thomas O'Neil
in UND's
Computer Science Department
being used to examine theoretical problems in computer science.
